The foundation of Rania city’s first-ever bakery was laid in 1979 by two dedicated brothers, the late Darwesh Hama Salih Margai and his younger brother, Mohammed Ali Hama Salih Margai. Known as the Hama Ali Bakery Bakery, it quickly gained a reputation for its unwavering commitment to high quality. The brothers continued their work, establishing themselves as the most trusted source for bread and samoon (Iraqi bread) until 1989.
Initially, their focus was solely on crafting the perfect Samoon, distinguished by its unique flavor and characteristics. As time went on, and to meet the growing demands of the market, the brothers decided to expand their offerings. They successfully introduced a range of pastries and sweets, adding a delicious and sweet dimension to the bakery’s growing legacy.
Following the passing of Mohammed Ali Hama Salih Margai, the legacy remained strong and was carefully preserved by the next generation. His son, Barham Mohammed Ali Hama Salih Margai, took on the responsibility of continuing the family’s journey. Barham has upheld the same standards of quality and expertise, ensuring that the bakery maintains its high reputation. Today, Hama Ali Bakery is particularly celebrated for its organic, high-quality, and delicious Samoon, which is produced using specific, well-guarded recipes by seasoned experts.
